if you want to break it down

I'm a girl that loves to go out just to dance.  There are a lot of huge clubs in Toronto with multiple floors, expensive drinks and no atmosphere.  These are not the clubs I like to go to.  I have made a recommendation list of the best places to dance (or drink before dancing) in Toronto.  Places where the music is good, the people are nice and it's easy to just have a good time.

Clubs in Toronto usually have a cover charge at the door-- like an entrance fee to get in.  I don't like to pay a lot for cover, so most of the places on this list charge 5 dollars (sometimes 10) if they charge anything at all.  Sometimes you don't have to pay cover if you put yourself on the guestlist or get to a club before 11pm.

LeVack Block - bar/restaurant/club hybrid - very one of a kind.  In the front a casual dining set up with a huge bar that packs itself as the night goes on.  The music is good and not too loud so conversation can be heard.   In the back, a small dance club with great beats.  Two different atmospheres that complement each other very well.  Interesting draft beer selection and the drinks are not that expensive.

Devil's Martini - they play the top club hits and have a great atmosphere for dancing.  It's really just that simple which is why it's my favorite club.  One day the calibar of the club may degrade (they do have stripper poles) but it's not seedy yet.

Bier Markt - a bar with a great selection of beers.  Sometimes the music is a bit loud and it can be hard to maneuver your way to the bar when it gets packed.  The beer selection is worth visiting Bier Markt at least once.  But, you can drink for cheaper pretty much anywhere else.  The food is good but very over priced. (There are two locations, the king west one is closer to all the night clubs)

Tattoo Rock Parlour - This club plays Rock and Roll music and it's a lot of fun.  There are two floors, the downstairs is smaller and people tend to hang out more than dance.  The upstairs dance floor gets packed, but there's a rock and roll community vibe that makes it fun.  Sometimes their upstairs coat check gets full, so know that they have a downstairs coat check as well.  If you like Rock and Roll you should check out this club.

Augusta House - this is a small upstairs club with cheap drink prices.  Sometimes it's slow to build a crowd, and the music can be hit or miss depending on the DJ.  It's a good place to start the night and then move on from if you're not feeling the vibe.

Fly - This club plays pretty much all beats with some Top 40 remixes occasionally.  It is technically a gay nightclub, but if you don't know that going in, then you wouldn't ever know.  The atmosphere is very friendly, the music is really good and the drink prices are reasonable.

Cest What - A bar/restaurant that makes delicious food and has a great draft selection.  It's not a club, but they do usually have live music and I have witnessed people dancing to it.  It's a great place for a meal and beers with good friends.

Dance Cave (Lee's Palace) - I haven't been here in awhile, but Dance Cave can be so much fun that I must put it on this list.  The night can be hit or miss, but when it is a hit, it's a blast.  They mainly play alternative music with some classic old stuff.  The club is called Lee's Palace, and Dance Cave is the upstairs.  They charge cover for Lee's Palace and Dance Cave spearatley, so make sure you go upstairs before you pay!  If you have a student ID you get in free to Dance Cave.
